Dominance early in a season isn’t always rewarded with a Cup title. Consider:Larson took the points lead from teammate William Byron after winning last weekend’s race at Kansas Speedway, the third victory of the season for Larson.

Kyle Larson jumped into the lead of the NASCAR Cup Series points standings by way of the win at Kansas on May 11. Larson maxed out on points in the AdventHealth 400, sweeping the stages and earning the point for having the fastest lap.

There’s a bit of movement in the top 10 this weekend with the likes of Alex Bowman, Bubba Wallace and Denny Hamlin all getting wrecked. However, the front of the field was still largely dominated by the top NASCAR Cup Series points leaders.
