BOSTON — Alex Bregman is not in the Red Sox lineup Sunday against the Marlins. Abraham Toro will play third base. Boston will try for a three-game sweep against Miami at Fenway Park. First pitch is scheduled for 1:35 p.m.

Signing Bregman was a huge win for the Red Sox, as the star third baseman agreed to a three-year, $120 million deal in February. But that deal included an opt-out after each of the first two seasons, and after making his third American League All-Star team this year, Bregman seems likely to re-enter free agency.

Bowden linking the Tigers to Bregman as a free agent destination isn't surprising, as when trade rumors were flying around in June regarding Bregman, Detroit was one of the top teams that could land the superstar third baseman.
