Three major wildfires raging out of control in the same Minnesota county have burned more than 20,000 acres combined.
The Camp House Fire is nearly 12,000 acres; Jenkins Creek Fire is 6,800 acres; and Munger Shaw Fire is 1,400 acres. All are zero percent contained.
A new incident command team will take over the response to the two largest fires beginning Wednesday, state officials said.
The Camp House Fire near Brimson has grown to 750 acres as of Monday morning. It was zero-percent contained as crews worked on the ground and from the air to douse the flames. Meanwhile, another large wildfire started Monday just a few miles away.
Firefighters continue to work on a large fire in St. Louis County. As of Tuesday morning, The U.S. Forest service says say the Camp House fire has burned 11,778 acres and is zero percent contained. Multiple structures have been destroyed and evacuations are still in place Tuesday.
Officials say two wildfires fed by dry conditions and strong winds in St. Louis County now encompass hundreds of acres each, forcing evacuations.
A wildfire fueled by dry conditions and high winds about an hour north of Duluth grew to more than 1 square mile in just a few hours. The Camphouse Fire near Brimson, Minn., was detected Sunday shortly after 1 p.
The fire, which started north of the town of Brimson near the Superior National Forest, has already blackened 750 acres and is growing.
