A 17-year-old girl who died after being hit by a car on the M5 motorway in Somerset had fled a police vehicle moments before the collision. The teenager was being transported to custody when she got out of the Avon and Somerset Police vehicle, the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) said.

A teenage girl who was killed in a crash on the M5 was being taken into custody and got out of a police car onto the motorway before being hit by a vehicle.

A teenage girl has died following a major crash on the M5 in Somerset. Emergency services were called to the scene of the collision, involving a car and a pedestrian, at around 11pm on Monday, November 11.
