President Donald Trump's administration said on Thursday it is suing four Democratic-led states to prevent them from enforcing "burdensome and ideologically motivated" laws and pursuing lawsuits against the fossil fuel industry over the harms caused by climate change.

President Donald Trump’s administration is preemptively suing the state of Michigan to block climate change lawsuits against oil and gas companies.

The Trump administration sued Michigan, its Democratic governor and attorney general, trying to block the state from seeking damages in court from fossil fuel companies it says caused harm through climate change.
