You might associate the livestreaming service Twitch with influencers -- even politicians -- playing video games for all to see. But on Wednesday, Twitch leaped into space. NASA conducted a first-of-its-kind Twitch stream where an astronaut from the International Space Station engaged with viewers live on the platform.

NASA will host its first Twitch stream from the International Space Station (ISS), giving viewers the chance to ask NASA astronauts questions in real time, while they orbit Earth some 250 miles (402 km) from our planet's surface.

The NASA astronauts will answer questions about daily life up in orbit, as well as the research conducted in microgravity.

To watch the stream, simply head to NASA's Twitch channel at 11:45 a.m. ET on Feb. 12. The stream will act like any other Twitch stream where you can chat and watch, except this time it'll be with someone who is 250 miles above the Earth's surface.

NASA will host its first Twitch event from the International Space Station next week, in a move hoping to draw in a new audience interested in space science and research.
