FedEx big rig carrying 12,000 pounds of packages crashes on 5 Freeway in Pacoima
Part of the rain-soaked 5 Freeway was closed early Wednesday morning when a FedEx truck carrying thousands of pounds of packages crashed in Pacoima. The big rig driver was not injured in the Christmas Eve crash near the De Soto Avenue exit.
The California Highway Patrol is warning drivers to use alternate routes and use extra caution as roads are slick due to the heavy rain.

A Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department inmate transport van was involved in a crash Monday morning on the northbound 5 Freeway in Mission Hills.
CHP announced the first accident via social media at 5:49 a.m., after a big rig fire stopped all southbound lanes on I-5. Traffic halted at the base of the Grapevine, backing cars into the valley toward the split with Highway 99. All but one lane reopened by 7 a.m., but the wreck was just the beginning on a busy, wet travel day.
