GREENSBORO, N.C. — The winter storm is hitting the Piedmont Triad right now. Icy, dangerous roads are expected, as well as possible power outages. WFMY News 2 crews are working around the clock to bring you the latest updates and keep you safe.

A storm moving through the Carolinas could blanket much of N.C. with a thick layer of snow – and ice. Forecasters say Charlotte and the Triangle could receive up to three-quarters of an inch of ice, along with some snowfall, between Saturday and Monday, before temperatures plunge into the single digits Monday night.
