Authorities say two monkeys have been returned to a South Carolina compound that breeds the animals for medical research.

An additional 24 monkeys believed to be among 43 that escaped a South Carolina research facility last week have been recovered, and eyes are on a “sizable group” nearby, police said Sunday, NBC News reported.

As of Monday afternoon, 30 of the 43 monkeys that made it outside the Alpha Genesis facility in Yemassee are back in the company’s custody unharmed, police said in a statement.

One monkey has been captured after 43 monkeys escaped from the Alpha Genesis research facility in South Carolina, the Yemassee Police Department said.
