Spain has declared its first national wildfire emergency as fast-moving blazes forced nearly 20,000 people to evacuate.

Firefighters are battling to contain wildfires burning near to the city of Bordeaux as tens of thousands of people have been evacuated from the surrounding region.

About 30 fires are burning at the same time across France, the country’s prime minister, Sébastien Lecornu, said on social media.
