A 7.6 magnitude earthquake has triggered tsunami warnings for areas of the northeastern coast of Japan, the country’s meteorological agency said, revising up its initial reading of a 7.2 earthquake.

A powerful 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of northern Japan on Monday.

So far, no casualties have been reported.
