San Diego Padres centerfielder Jackson Merrill is questionable for tonight's series opener against the San Francisco Giants. Merrill, who struck out twice in Sunday's 5-4 loss against the Dodgers, exited the game due to a left ankle injury. After rolling his ankle during a play on Friday, Merrill decided to "play through" the injury.

The weekend didn't go the way the San Diego Padres hoped it would. Holding a one-game lead over the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League West, San Diego was swept out of Chavez Ravine, losing Sunday 5-4 to fall two games out of first place in the division.
