Colorado's front office has already shown it isn't afraid to shake up the team, and trading its 2C would qualify.

The Colorado Avalanche have reportedly considered a Casey Mittelstadt trade this season. Mittelstadt initially joined the Avalanche through trade at last year’s NHL trade deadline. The hope was that he could become the team’s second-line center for years to come.

It’s a years-long trend since he arrived in Denver and had a breakout season when the Avs won the Stanley Cup. Just in the years since the title, Colorado is 89-30-10 during the regular season when Nichushkin plays and 46-43-6 when he doesn’t.

Jimmy Vesey’s and Ryan Lindgren’s first practice with the Avalanche was high energy but a little rough with the altitude adjustment. The two were traded from the New York Rangers on Saturday and hopped right into action on Sunday.

There’s still time for the Avalanche to improve the roster, but the biggest issue right now needs an internal fix.
