Tuesday, at the urging of Senator Suzette Martinez Valladares, R-, California Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara extended a one-year moratorium on non-renewals of homeowners insurance policies in zip codes impacted by the Hughes Fire.

The Santa Clarita Organization for Planning and the Environment, SCOPE, has filed an appeal with the Executive Office of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors over wildfire concerns with the 492-unit Spring Canyon development located past Mammoth Lane in Canyon Country.

A new wildfire was reported today at 3:32 p.m. in Santa Cruz County. The wildfire has been burning on private land. At this time, there is no data on the containment status of the fire and the cause has yet to be determined.
