Louisiana will use challenged congressional map after Supreme Court declines to expedite ruling
Louisiana’s existing six congressional districts will be used for the 2026 midterm election after the U.S. Supreme Court did not rule in a case challenging their boundaries by the end of 2025.
A special primary election will be held May 16 for vacant state Board of Elementary and Secondary Education and state Supreme Court seats.
There are four open seats in the Louisiana House and one open seat in the Louisiana Senate after a handful of lawmakers resigned their posts this fall to pursue other jobs.
Louisiana Secretary of State Nancy Landry announced that six voting systems have been certified as the state moves forward with plans to acquire a new, fully auditable voting system.
The Louisiana State Bond Commission approved election applications for 12 parishes to decide on local funding measures.
