A directive from the New York City mayor’s office has sparked controversy as the Trump administration ramps up immigration enforcement.

The memo appeared to tell staff to allow federal agents into buildings which sanctuary laws are meant to protect.

City Council leaders are considering taking legal action to block what they are calling Mayor Eric Adams’ “appalling” new policy that gives municipal workers the greenlight to allow federal immigration workers onto city property without warrants if their presence makes them “reasonably feel threatened.
