The MHSAA state wrestling finals can be a chance for athletes to face other wrestlers from every corner of the state. But sometimes, when it comes to crown a champion on Saturday, the wrestler facing you on the mat is someone you know well,

The Hometown Life's region, which spans most of the west side of metro Detroit, had nine competitors advance to Saturday's MHSAA individual wrestling state finals at Ford Field, eight of whom won state titles. That included four grapplers from Detroit Catholic Central bringing home titles and four girls.

Among the field on the final day was nearly two dozen Downriver and Dearborn area wrestlers, featuring a handful that competed for state titles in their respective divisions and weight classes. That included a pair of Riverview Gabriel Richard teammates in Jordan Zambon and Sebastian Martinez, each of whom walked away as state champions.

Grand Ledge's Logan Tollison completes perfect season and Fowlerville's Maggie Buurma finishes as a four-time champion.

In the 285 lbs. weight class, the Tribune's only state final wrestler finished fourth at Ford Field over the weekend.

More than 1,100 wrestlers entered the 2025 MHSAA individual state finals with the goal of earning their way to the top of the podium. Intense opening rounds filtered the best of the best through to the championship matches,
