NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh says he will join the Bloc Québécois in blocking a non-confidence motion next week when the Conservatives attempt to topple the the government. The planned votes from the Bloc and the New Democrats eliminate the possibility of a snap election next week.

The Canadian opposition party leader who just ended a deal propping up Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s minority government said Thursday he will decide future confidence votes on a case-by-case basis and that stance makes an early election more likely.
