Russia and the U.S. will seek to mend diplomatic ties during talks also focused on ending the conflict in Ukraine as part of a surprise rapprochement under President Donald Trump.

The United States has issued an agreement for the appointment of a new Russian ambassador, as reported by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Aleksandr Darchiyev is expected to depart for Washington "in the near future.
