We'll need to be ready for Houston to become seasonably hotter by midweek, with highs in the middle to upper 90s, the National Weather Service said.

HOUSTON — This weekend will be hot and muggy with afternoon highs in the 90s. There is a chance that we could see rain chances during the afternoon hours. Overnight lows will be in the 70s. While there are no severe weather alerts in effect this morning, the forecast includes the potential for afternoon thunderstorms.

Wednesday through the 4th of July and the weekend, expect only an isolated afternoon storm with the main theme of the forecast being increasingly hot weather with more Saharan haze. Highs will range from 95-99 with coastal areas topping out in the low 90s.
