A relatively mild, 3.0 magnitude earthquake in New Jersey shook the New York City metropolitan area Saturday night. Here’s what to know.

The U.S. Geological Survey confirmed a 3.0 magnitude earthquake rocked Hasbrouck Heights in Bergen County, New Jersey at around 10:15 p.m. on Saturday​.

If the earthquake triggered memories of last year's big shake there are some key differences. Last year's earthquake centered near Tewksbury, New Jersey, was a magnitude 4.8. That's almost 20 times stronger than Saturday night's earthquake.
