Preakness Stakes field was set following Monday's 2025 Preakness Stakes post position draw. Kentucky Derby winner Sovereignty is among those who will not race in the second leg of the Triple Crown, but runner-up Journalism will compete in the Run for the Black-Eyed Susans.

Just as he was in the days leading up to the Kentucky Derby a couple of weeks ago, Journalism (8-5) is the favorite following the Draw for Post Positions for the 150th Preakness Stakes. Journalism drew the No. 2 post Monday in a field of nine for the $2 million, second leg of the Triple Crown.

The 2025 Preakness Stakes will take place on Saturday, May 17, at Pimlico Race Track in Baltimore. The second leg of horse racing’s Triple Crown, the field for the Preakness will feature nine horses, but it’s one that isn’t in the field making the most noise.
