South Korea’s highest court has removed President Yun Seok-yeol from office in a unanimous decision following his impeachment after he declared martial law.

South Korea's Constitutional Court upheld the impeachment of Yoon Suk Yeol over his declaration of martial law last December. The ruling paves the way for fresh elections, which must be held in the next 60 days.

The unanimous verdict came more than three months after the opposition-controlled National Assembly voted to impeach him.
