Hello, my name is... The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium is ecstatic to reveal the names of the two sea lion pups born in June! First up is…Sunshine! Female pup, Sunshine, was born on June 25, 2020 to mom, Lovell. Sunshine was named by the Swiatek Family, long-time supporters of the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. The family says they knew the name was a perfect fit because the California coast (the native range of California sea lions) is full of sunshine; the family went to Florida (the “Sunshine State”)

Last week, the SeaWorld San Diego rescue team received a call from a boater in San Diego Bay near Point Loma that reported a sea lion on a buoy with his had stuck inside a welded piece of metal, a rare position for a sea lion to be in.
