We've been hearing about lots of sightings of the convolvulus hawk-moth this month. With a wingspan over 80mm they an impressive insect. This is a migrant species which appear in late summer and autumn. You can see them flying after dusk around tubular flowers, feeding with their long proboscis. Thanks to Liz Vandweller for sharing her sighting, the moth was attached by some Nicotiana Sylvestris flowers. | Sussex Wildlife Trust
