I found the peculiar Virginia Strawberry! I believe that what I happened upon was Fragaria virginiana ssp. glauca which is described to have nearly glabrous (hairless) stems!It was really cool to see both of them next to each other. I’ve always known F. vesca to be a European species, but search more I find mention of F. vesca ssp. americana, a native subspecies!
