🥳October 2 is celebrated within the Soka Gakkai as World Peace Day, marking a key milestone in the international development of Nichiren Buddhism, with its goal of contributing to lasting peace in the world. ☘ Daisaku Ikeda left Tokyo’s Haneda Airport on October 2, 1960, traveling outside of Japan to build peace through a philosophy upholding the supreme value and dignity of human life. In each country he visited, he strove to understand the prevailing social, political and cultural conditions.

Tsunesaburo Makiguchi, its first president, was an educator inspired by Nichiren Buddhism and passionately dedicated to the reform of Japanese education.
