We've been prompted to share a Swanage Railway moment and here's our choice... October 14th 2018 started off very wet indeed! Visiting that weekend was Duchess of Sutherland. However, just as exciting for me (if not even more so!) was getting a run behind Southern Locomotives Ltd's 257 Squadron for the first time in almost 20 years! Today we waved farewell to a Swanage Railway resident, in the form of West Country Bulleid Pacific 34028 “Eddystone”. For those who aren’t aware, Eddystone has received various modifications and mechanical attention during a visit to the SLL - Southern Locomotives Ltd workshop at Herston which mean it is now fully equipped to run on the National Network. Today is the first time the locomotive has travelled on the National Network under its own power since 1964, making the day even more special.
