I used to put weed membrane down and grow winter salad through them. It’s so much easier to control the weeds that way which make picking REALLY EASY!Trouble was, a couple of years ago I lost ALL my chard and maybe a third of my salad to the hungry mouths of several families of voles.It’s great from them, they nest under the membrane, and used our crops as their larder.
