This cute critter is a two-month-old big eared opossum I photographed at Instituto Vida Livre. Typically, this species will produce two or three litters a year, with an average of six babies. Breeding season for this South American species begins in January and ends in August. After young are born they will stay attached to their mom’s teats for the first six weeks of development.
