Breeding season for this South American species begins in January and ends in August. After young are born they will stay attached to their mom’s teats for the first six weeks of development. Once they are around the age of our friend here, the babies will detach and only come back to mom for nesting and nu

The babies will then swim up that furry river and enter the pouch and then attach to one of her eleven to thirteen nipples. There they will stay and suckle for three weeks. These little ones have grown to the size of a baby mouse and in a week or two will be hanging on moms back. Make su

Sad day here at The Wright Ranch Rescue. Sadly Jerome the one eared opossum with vestibular disorder passed away this evening. I (Elizabeth) sensed it yesterday. But we didn't expect it to be this soon. Jerome came into our lives February 2, 2020 as a little baby missing his left ear. He has no balance and would wobble backwards. He got his left front foot stuck in his mouth and decided to Chew his fingers off to get it "unstuck" . We got him all healed up and gave him all our love and shared hi

They are perhaps best known for their involuntary defense mechanism call
