Field Notes: June 17, 2026 Location: Wadden Sea, Frisian Coast, Netherlands ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Encounter Summary: On a falling tide in the Wadden Sea, off the Frisian coast, I crouched beside a local wad-guide as the water drew back from the flats. The mud lay slick and grey to the horizon, stitched with the first green of the season's glasswort, and the air held that cold mineral smell of salt and sulphur the North Sea leaves behind. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Among the shells and the young glasswort lay what I
