Day one of our Victorian Weekend is now well underway, with all four locomotives in service performing well including visiting 01 Class Number 65! Maunsell U Class Number 31806 is in service today on our Blue Timetable which means there is a single steam service and the first train leaves Swanage Station at 10:00. The Purbeck Mining Museum is also open today at Norden Station. It’s well worth a visit and offers a great opportunity to learn about clay mining in the Isle of Purbeck. This time last week, the Swanage Railway Trust 563 Locomotive Group launched their Project 120. This will see sole surviving T9 Class - 30120 receive a mechanical assessment, ahead of a commitment to return the Victorian veteran to steam. Owned by the National Railway Museum and on loan to the 563LG, 30120 left SR metals last week, heading for the Flour Mill workshop in the Forest of Dean as part of the initiative. Historic FIRST HST arrives at Swanage!!
