The rebirth of the Survivor Tree is a reminder that even in our darkest times, we are resilient. The Survivor Tree, a Callery pear, was pulled from the smoldering rubble of the World Trade Center site after the 2001 attacks and has grown to become a living reminder of the nation's shared strength and resiliency. The Survivor Tree stands today as a living symbol of resilience. While we normally are able to provide saplings of the Survivor Tree at the Remembrance Ceremony, this year we are unable to.
